Native Turk's-Cap Lily Earrings
If you have ever come across one of these native lilies, I am sure you remember it! They often grow near water in swampy areas and prefer a bit of sunshine. It isn't just the bright orange flowers that catch your eye, but because they can grow to be 8 feet tall and will often be FULL of blooms AND butterflies! One of my favorite wetland plants because they really seem to attract butterflies in the swallowtail family. Pipevine, eastern tiger swallowtail, and spicebush, are a few that love this plant's nectar. This is a wonderful native, pollinator attracting plant, with some of the most unusual flowers. The petals bend almost completely backwards, often touching each other, and really do look like tiny caps.
This pair of one of a kind dangle earrings are made entirely from sterling silver by hand. Each flower cut, shaped, and given tiny stamen fused within each one. There will only ever be one pair of earrings like this! The earrings are about 2 inches long from where they go into your ear. What a fun conversation piece that are not only beautiful, but educational. You can wear them while telling friends about how important native plants are. And hopefully they don't roll their eyes!
