Trillium Stud Earrings
Trillium grandiflorum are one of the very few plants that propagate in a way called myrmecochory. Myrmecochory is a mutualistic relationship between ants and plants. The seeds of many trillium have a fatty appendage, called elaoisome, on each seed that ants are attracted to as food. So, they take the seeds back to their nest to eat the elaiosome from it and then discard the majority of the seed elsewhere to grow. The seeds and the ants benefit from each other without harm to either.
Each of these tiny sterling silver trillium flowers are made from scratch so no two are the same. I will only be making 5 pairs of trillium studs in this design. Since each pair is made to order, please give me about a week to create them for you.
