Every year, on the first warm day that feels like it might actually mean it, I make my way to the garden nursery. And every year, the pansies are waiting for me.

The First Color of Spring

If you have ever lived through a long New Hampshire winter you know exactly what I mean. By March the world has been grey and white for so long that you almost forget what color looks like. And then you walk into the nursery and there they are. Pansies. Bright and cheerful and completely unbothered by the fact that there might still be frost in the forecast. They are the first color you get to see after months of waiting and they are absolutely glorious for it.

I always bring some home and plant them in a pot on my front steps. A little burst of purple and yellow to welcome friends before the rest of the garden has even thought about waking up. It is one of my favorite small rituals of the year.

I made this stacking ring set for everyone who feels exactly the same way about spring.

The Rings

This little set tells the story of spring in three elements. The raindrops that coax the frozen earth back to life, falling soft and steady on the still bare ground. A Note from Tamara

I made these rings because that first trip to the nursery in spring is one of my favorite moments of the entire year. There is something about seeing those pansies sitting there so cheerfully in the cold that just fills me up. I hope this little set does the same for whoever wears it, and that it reminds you every single day that color is always coming back, no matter how long the winter.
