Monarch Butterfly Plant Vase

Monarch butterflies look very similar to each other if they are male or they are female. Once you know what you are looking for, though, you can tell quite easily if you are close enough. The males have the tiniest little black spots within their dark veining on their bottom wings. The females do not have these specialize spots. Scientists believe that the males have those spots made of tiny scales because they release pheromones that attract the ladies. This is what happens in several other species of butterflies, but they aren't definitely sure that this is the case with monarchs yet. 

This is a female that I made to tend to your plant cuttings and flower arrangements. She sits atop with outstretched wings on a thick sterling silver tree branch that is wrapped around a glass vial. She is made from sterling silver with bright copper spots. Can you see her tiny curled tongue? At the bottom of the meandering tree branch are a few tiny mushrooms popping through reaching upwards. The propagation holder measures 6 inches from the top of the glass to the bottom feet. A one of a kind piece that could never be replicated again.
