Luna Moth on Staghorn Sumac Hoops
Staghorn sumac, a native plant that hosts the luna moth caterpillar, is an often overlooked plant and ignored. The leaves are a food for baby luna moth caterpillars but this tree hosts many other insects as well! It is a wonderful addition to our yards if we have the space. This is one of those plants that are very important to animals during the late winter and early spring for survival. Staghorn sumac often hold their berries until the next growing season making it possible for wild animals to find food when they need it the most. I wanted to get the word out there about this amazing tree and thought of no better way than to highlight them along with our beloved luna moth.
These one of a kind earrings are made entirely from sterling silver. The luna moth was made from scratch and even given tiny fuzzy details. Each staghorn sumac branch is twisted onto a circle so they can be worn like hoop earrings. The end of the stem goes through your ear and the weight of the branch keeps the earrings in the correct position. They will come to you with clear rubber post rings that you add after they are in your ears to keep them in place. The luna moth was given an opal gemstone and the other earring features three faceted green peridot gemstones to mimic her beautiful coloration.
These one of a kind earrings are almost 2 inches tall and about 1.5 inches wide. They will be packaged up sweetly and mailed off to you within 3-5 business days.
