Rosalind & Edmund the Goldfish Necklace

In the quiet depths beneath the lily pads, two goldfish have been swimming the same water together for as long as anyone can remember. Their paths cross and uncross in the same unhurried way every day. This is Rosalind and Edmund. They are not lost. They are exactly where they want to be.

A Pond in Full Bloom

There is a particular kind of peace that exists at the surface of a healthy pond in summer. The water lily opens its petals to the morning light. The lily pads spread wide and layered, every vein catching the sun differently. And somewhere below the surface, if you are patient and quiet and lucky enough to be looking at exactly the right moment, two goldfish drift past each other in the clear water, their paths intertwining and separating and intertwining again in a pattern they have repeated so many times it has become its own kind of language.

Rosalind and Edmund have been swimming this pond together for a very long time. They know every twisted branch beneath the surface, every stem rising toward the light, every corner of their beautiful world. They are not in any hurry. The water lily is blooming. The light is good. Everything is exactly as it should be.

The Necklace

Inside a teardrop sterling silver frame a complete pond world exists in extraordinary detail. At the bottom Rosalind and Edmund swim together among dark twisted branches and aquatic stems, their bodies intertwined in that characteristic way of fish who share the same water every day. Above them layers of beautifully detailed lily pads fan outward in every direction, every vein etched into the silver surface catching the light differently from every angle. And right at the center of it all a water lily flower blooms in perfect detail, opening toward the light just as it would on a real summer morning.

Every single element of this pendant was made entirely by hand from sterling silver from scratch. Nothing was cast. The pendant comes on an 18 inch sterling silver rope chain.

A Note from Tamara

I made this piece because I wanted to capture that specific feeling of looking down into a pond and catching two fish moving past each other in the water below the lily pads. There is something about the way fish swim together in the same space, crossing and uncrossing without ever colliding, that feels like a kind of effortless understanding. Rosalind and Edmund have that. I hope whoever wears them feels a little of that same quiet peace every time they look down at their chest and find a whole pond living there.
