Aragonite Tower Earrings

I hand picked these two aragonite stones because I thought they were beautiful. I liked how the center of them was a deep iron red but the ends were almost a clear quartz. They just stood out to me because of their shape and coloration. But, as you probably know, I love learning about nature and looked up more information on this mineral. For some reason I didn't make the connection to them being such an important mineral for ocean animals. Aragonite is the mineral form of calcium carbonate. This is what corals and shellfish use to build their skeletons and shells. Without aragonite we would have no wondrous coral reefs! 

These one of a kind earrings are made entirely from recycled sterling silver and by hand. They are each about 2 inches long from where they enter your ear.
