One morning you look out the window and there they are. That is the whole thing with daffodils. You did not need to check the calendar. They told you first.

The Daffodil

The old English name for the daffodil was affodyle, meaning that which comes early, which is perhaps the most accurate name any flower has ever been given. Daffodils push up through cold soil while most of the garden is still dormant, announcing spring with a confidence the weather has not yet earned. Their botanical name is Narcissus, their birth flower month is March, and they have been blooming in gardens and poems and paintings for thousands of years without once losing their charm. There are over thirteen thousand registered cultivars. They are still, unmistakably, always just a daffodil.

The Piece

A single hand carved daffodil sits atop a slim round band, those characteristic layered petals spreading outward and that trumpet corona rising from the center the way a real daffodil trumpet does, slightly ruffled at the edge. The whole thing is deeply oxidized so every carved detail reads clearly even at this delicate scale. Small enough to wear every day. Detailed enough to make someone lean in for a closer look. Sweet on its own or worn alongside other rings as a stacking piece with a little spring in it.

Each ring is made to order just for you in your size from recycled sterling silver.

The Craftsmanship

  • Ring: hand carved daffodil on slim round band
  • Material: recycled sterling silver throughout, oxidized
  • Band: simple round band, sized to order
  • Edition: made to order, each one unique

A Note from Tamara

I made this ring because daffodils make people happy and I wanted something small enough to wear every single day that still carried all of that feeling. A little spring on your finger, all year long.
