This one of a kind pendant was made first entirely in wax and then I cast it into sterling silver. I created each plant, each petal, each spot on the fly trap and sundew by hand and there will never be another piece like this again. The method is called lost wax casting and is a very time consuming and percise process but one of my favorites!
The focal stone is a flashy blue spectrolite that I cut myself. Spectrolite are in the labradorite family but only found in Finland. The flashes of spectrolite are normally much brighter as well. This stone is amazing and such a unique blue!
I included a tiny sundew on top of a bog tree branch with a miniature fly sitting across from it. Hopefully he keeps a good watch out and doesn't get too close! At the bottom of the stone there is a Venus fly trap on the left with tiny dots depicting the little hairs on each of the traps. On the right of the stone is a cluster of pitcher plants in flower. The flower towers above the traps such as they do in the wild. Have you seen a pitcher plant in bloom? It is such an awesome sight! Below the plants is some moss that give them their nutrients. After cleaning the piece I added a dark patina to bring out the natural highlights of the silver and polished it again. A little snap shot of a bog in one miniature piece. A whole tiny ecosystem!
The necklace, clasp, and pendant are made entirely out of sterling silver. The necklace allows this pendant to sit on your chest in equivilent to what an 18 inch necklace would. I created the heart clasp for the lobster clasp to hold onto keeping your pendant safe. The pendant alone is 2 inches across and 2 inches tall.
Each of my pieces come to you in a gift box, wrapped, decorated, and ready to be given as a gift or as a special surprise for yourself. One of a kind pieces that are already created are mailed to you in 3-5 business days.
